Nov 16th; Night of Hecate, honouring Thracian Goddess of Moon Magick, and Witches as the Teacher of the Craft.

One must remember that Talismans and Amulets are not the same as one is that of nature?s creation and the other by mans hand. Amulets are stones, found stones, branches from trees, anything that comes from nature and used in one way or the other to aid in health, protection, love, wealth or power. Talismans are that of mans crafting, stones set within silver, witches rings, statues of deity images, anything that we would use or wear to aid in protection, health, love, wealth and/or power.

Gypsy's made all of there own talismans out of bone and would either run it through running water of lakes, rivers, or allow the smoke of incense to cleanse and charge the talismans and or chant upon the talisman that they were to wear.

In making amulets that are made from nature are rather easy, but you must take care in using the proper associations with combining the stones, oil, and herbs within a sachet or pouch that one would either carry and or hang over a window, doorway, hearth, anywhere that it will stay for a long period of time. With these you may add talismans to them to aid in its? strengthening.

The oldest of all talismans is the Cimaruta; this which is worn and used by hereditary Witches and has a number of different symbols that are represented on the talisman. Each of them is sacred and has it own association and magickal properties. This talisman is connected to the Diana; Sea goddess and the Underworld, Cock; vigilance and protection, the Sun, Moon; Moon and claiming allegiance to what it represented, Serpent; health, sexuality and sensuality, and the fertile essence and the phallus moving in and out of the crevice to the Underworld of rebirth. Venomous snake is a symbol of transformative powers of the sexual aspects. The Key; that the bearer possesses the Key to Mysteries.
