Gardenia
Gardenia Jasminoides

2004 ~ By Rev. Darcie

Now, this is a harder flower to find information on magickally and medicinally than any other flower essence around. It is not that rear of a flower but it is indeed a fragrant and beautiful flower. It is one I am proud to say I have growing in the front of my yard.

A story on how I learned of its name. I have had this plant for many years, and up until a few months ago it was on my back terrace in a pot, but it needed more room as it grew and grew. When I purchased it, I was told it was a Jasmine flower, which was what I was seeking at the time and well to say some are not that knowledgeable in Puerto Rico on non local plants. Only this past year did I learn of the true nature of this flower from a friend of mine when I described it. At that point I moved it to the front of the yard where it flourishes.

Now, before this I enjoyed adding this flower to salads, teas, incenses and offerings to Rhiannon. I would even sometimes just go sit by it and caress the leaves and inhale the wonderful essence to relax after a long day.

However, only recently have I really gotten back into seeking out the hidden secrets of plants and those in which I have in my yard to date. And well the Gardenia is one of my favourites, so lets see what I found out and feel are the magickal properties of the Gardenia gardenia jasminoides.

Now when using this flower in incenses, teas and such you can use it whole or dry it first then cut it up or bruise it, prior to mixing with other essences.

I am not familiar with any medicinal use, as I stated before not much is known of the uses of this flower.

So, till I find more out this is it for the Gardenia gardenia jasminoides.
